PHOTOGRAPHS OF EARLY
MACON CO RESIDENTS
FOUR STROPE BROTHERS
From left to right; William Strope, Thomas B. Strope, John Strope and Finnis Strope. Finnis and John are buried in Union Cemetery by Oreana, I don't know where Willliam is buried, I think in Piatt County. They are the sons of Perry Strope and Jane Wells. The family came to Whitmore Township in 1853. Perry, Jane and one daughter are buried together in Union Cemetery near Oreana under a tall white stone that time and weather has taken it's toll on. Near Perry is John Strope and his wife Sarah Bennett, with them is burried their daughter Alice. Not far from there is Finis Strope and his wife Mary Zinn and just a few steps away is Sarah J. Strope and her husband Isaiah Querry and many of their children.
>The family moved here from Ross county Ohio in 1853. Perry was born in Penn. and was the son of Henry Strope. What brought the family to Macon County is still not known. All lived around Oreana and Perry owned many acres according to an old platt book.
