    REGAN
I'm searching for descendants of Adeline Larkin, born 1873, who married John Franklin Regan. Adeline and John Regan had four children, all born in Mt. Sterling, Brown Co, IL. They moved to Decatur, Macon County, IL, in 1919. Adeline died Oct 22, 1960 in Decatur; John died Apr 12, 1961, also in Decatur, IL. The children's names are: Helen May Regan, born 1900, first married Rudy C Sleeter, a clothier in Decatur, Macon County, IL. She subsequently married Bert Plummer, a farmer. Edith Matilda Regan, born 1903, married Celius Christensen, a contractor in Champaign, IL. Bonnie Ruth Regan, born 1905, married Dr. Arthur L Ennis of Decatur. John Franklin Regan Jr, born 1911, married Evelyn Montroy. John Jr, an attorney, had practices in both Mt. Sterling and Decatur, IL. Adeline Larkin was named for her grandmother, Adeline Lucinda Hadley Larkin, who was the sister of my ggg-grandmother, Marinda Salome Hadley Beckwith. I have family information on the Hadley and Beckwith lines that I would be happy to share with interested researchers. I have photographs of the elder Adeline and several of her children, and a number of unnamed photographs, including tintypes, which I'm sure belong to the Larkin line as they were taken in Mt. Sterling. I'm hoping to find a descendant of John and Adeline Larkin Regan in Macon County who will be interested in the our common genealogy and who will be able to help me identify the persons in these pictures. Of course, I would be most pleased to share them.

    SMITH
I was born in Decatur, Il and have many relatives that were also born and raised in Decatur. I have obituaries for Smith and Voyles. My main reason for writing is to seek information on my fathers family. He is Nathaniel Smith, born in Ste Genevieve County, Missouri on August 25,1885 to Emanuel and Margaret Jane Cheesebrough. According to the U.S.census for 1910 his brothers and sisters are listed as Florence, Dora, Abrahjam Francis, Hattie May, Luther Joseph, Jesse B. and Irene. He married my mother, Bertha Voyles on Feb. 24, 1914 in Springfield,Il. He had 2 other wives and died Feb.23, 1973. I'm seeking info on Emanuel Smith, my grandfather. I don't have proof, but believe he died between 1915 and 1925. My grandmother, Margaret Cheesebrough married a man named Stone and was living in Warrensburg Il. I believe Emanuel Smith had a father Isaac and mother named Martha born in Tenn. Other surnames in my search are Voyles,Moore, Waldrop, Ashbaugh and Boone.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    SMITH
I have a rather difficult situation - I am helping a relative who is older with family information. She tells me that her great-uncle changed his name, and she cannot find him. She has some information, though, but not his name! His name WAS John S. SKUGINA, and he lived in Decatur, Macon Co., Illinois in 1910. He died in 1919 as a result of falling from a tree. He had 3 sons, Frank, Emil, and Rudolph; and one daughter named Louise. They and he were born in Germany. John Skugina preached in a Polish church and worked in a coal mine in Decatur. At the end of her note to me she says, "possibly Moran Funeral Home, 1919, Decatur, Illinois". Also, John's brother was Fritz Wilhelm SKUGINA. I am located in the state of Nevada, and that makes it difficult to find Macon County records. If anybody has heard of this name, I would be very appreciative of your assistance. My relative is quite elderly and I'd like to find this uncle for her soon. Thank you kindly.

    SPANGLER
I found a probate petition with some old papers of my grandfathers. It was to the Macon Co., Il court for the authority to execute a deed for some property owned by a Frank Spangler. The papers indicate that Frank Spangler died in Macon County on July 28, 1919. It then goes on to list 120 'heirs at law'. Unfortunately it does not list what the people's relationship to the deceased was. Here is a list of the surnames mentioned and the number of people with that name:
Baker (2), Barton (1), Beard (2), Brame (1), Bruce (1), Buchanan (1), Bucher (1), Chenoweth (1), Child (1), Connelly (2), Cummings (1), Daniels (3), Dappen (1), Dell (1), Douglas (1), English (2), Evey (1), Ferguson (1), Frohman (2), Gale (1), Gallagher (1), Gantz (1), George (1), Haggerty (2), Handley (1), Harrington (1), Hartman (1), Hawkins (1), Hevel (1), Hossler (1), Hudson (1), Jenks (1), Lane (1), Laver (1), Lichtenberger (10), Loche (1), Long (2), Mahannah (2), McAnear (1), McKnight (1), Miller (2), Nissley (1), Park (3), Porter (1), Ratliffe (2), Reavis (1), Renshaw (1), Rhodes (3), Ruarck (1), Ruggles (1), Russell (1), Sellers (1), Smith (2), Spangler (26), Spencer (1), Tait (3), Templeman (1), Tice (2), Tuck (1), and Zorger (8).
Not all of the heirs have addresses in Macon County but I am hoping that someone here may recognize them. I am trying to figure out how the all fit together. Does anyone know how closely people would have to be related to be considered an 'heir at law'? Any help would be appreciated.

    STEVENS
Looking for the families of Christina SHOCK and Cyrus S. STEVENS who married in Macon County, IL 26 January 1869. This marriage is listed in the Illinois State Marriage Database; I have sent for a copy of the license but have yet to receive it. My gggrandfather was Cyrus S. Stevens. He was last heard from when he wrote a letter to his parents Moses and Mary Elizabeth Hoyt STEVENS in Michigan. His letter was sent from Hennepin, Putnam County, IL in early January 1861. His last child was born in April of 1862 and his wife Gertrude Stevens remarried in 1869 to Thomas Austin; they were in Sangamon County, IL.

I am not sure if it is a colossal coincidence that there were two Cyrus S. Stevens in the same area or if family lore is wrong and Cyrus S. Stevens did not die in a boating accident as is purported to be true. Perhaps he abandoned Gertrude or they divorced. Any help is appreciated.

    SWICK
My Pate line was in either Christian Co or Macon, sometimes back and forth between 1804 and 1900. I'm particularly looking for William Riley Pate who disappeared after his third wife died in 1852 in Christian Co. He gave his two-year old twins out to a SWICK family in Decatur to be raised and I'd really like to contact a descendent of that family to help uncover some of the puzzle pieces. Thanks for your help and for keeping such a great website going. It's one of the better ones.
